Meet Trevor McFedries -- otherwise known as DJ Skeet Skeet -- who got his start throwing DIY house parties before hitting the LA club circuit.  Even if you haven't heard of him, you've definitely heard his work, since he's teamed up with Shwayze and Cisco Adler as their official tour DJ performing live at KIIS' Wango Tango and MTV's TRL, and recording a national commercial spot for the Pontiac Vibe.

He's definitely making a name of his own, recently deejaying on Gabe Saporta and Cobra Starship's "Hot Mess Across the U.S." tour and supporting electro-hip-hop duo 3OH!3 in Australia. HipTronik.com had the opportunity to squeeze in a quick Q&A with the indelible deejay.  And don't forget to download his 90's RnB mix below.

When and why did you decide to start DJing? What inspired you?

I’ve always collected records and have always had a passion for music, so it came pretty naturally. The idea of getting paid to expose good music to people was pretty much my dream job.

Was it a hard transition to move from Iowa to Los Angeles? Did the
change in locations affect you musically?

It was definitely a culture shock, but I'd say I adjusted pretty quickly. Iowa is a really rad progressive state, and most of my taste in music comes from growing up there. I don't think I would have had the appreciation I do for folk/country if I grew up in LA.

You started out doing DIY parties when you got to Hollywood. Can you explain
what a DIY party is? How does that experience compare to DJing at clubs and
private events?

Well basically, me, Classixx, LA Riots, Acid Girls and Royal Rumble all threw parties in Classixx's basement and invited friends. It went from 50 people showing up to 400. And Classixx almost got evicted, so we moved it to Cinespace in LA, which we never thought we'd come close to filling. But it was packed by 11 P.M. It was pretty shocking. DJing in clubs is fun. You get proper sound, unlike a basement party. But at the same time, you cant beat the vibe of a basement/house party.

Your career really took off in LA. What is it about the LA scene that you
enjoy or dislike?

The thing about LA that’s amazing is that there is a lane for everybody. Look at everything we have going on, from indie rock (Edward Sharpe), dubstep (Rusko, 12th Planet), electro (Steve Aoki, LA Riots), Brainfeeder (The Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus, Daedelus) … The list goes on and on. I don’t think I dislike anything about LA.

What is your favorite club to play at?

My favorite show ever was at the Metro Theatre in Sydney, Australia, so I guess that’s my favorite club.

In LA, the night doesn’t always end after the club closes. Is there anything
you like to do after a night of DJing? What do you do to unwind? Is there
anything you like to do before or after you perform?

To unwind I get tacos and watch "60 Minutes" on NinjaVideo. Before I perform, I
usually get an idea of the first three to four records I want to play.

How would you describe your sound?

Ignorant Dance Music. Not a lot of pretension. Just fun party music of all kinds: cumbia, rap, dubstep, house, whatever.

Our blog is called HipTronik, which focuses on the electro-hip-hop genre.
How do you feel like about the HipTronik scene and your place in it? Where
do you see it going?

I like rap and I like electronic music, so I think I like what you do! I only see dance music growing for the time being. It’s going to change shape the same way hip hop or anything else did in the ‘90s. I think dance music is such a world sound, that with the spread of technology and communication, world ideas are going to replace localized stuff.

You were the first DJ ever to play the entire Vans Warped Tour, you’ve won
Paper Magazine’s “People’s Choice DJ,” and you’ve had a Billboard Top 10
record. Why do you think there has been such a positive reaction to your
music?

Good question. I think I got lucky. Being in the right place at the right time is always part of it. Basically, LA was the place to be ... Things move quick but I was young and surrounded by talented people, so the ideas I had came off as exciting to the rest of the world. I'd say London is kind of that place right now. There’s so much good stuff happening there.

How did your collaboration with Cisco Adler and Shwayze come about? How
does your work with them differ from your own music as a DJ? Do you have a
different vision for each project you work on?

Those guys are friends. Cisco is such an amazing songwriter that I wanted to work with him and Shwayze, because I liked what they were doing. The whole song on the radio and MTV stuff came so fast; we just held on for dear life. And I think that whole project was about Shwayze. It wasnt about me, so the vision was Schwayze and Cisco’s really.

My stuff is obviously my vision, so it’s gonna be different for sure. And every project I work on has a different vision. It’s always about a message, and conveying that through whatever medium is the challenge.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?

Soulja Boy. I feel like he’s making the most honest music in the game right now.

What direction do you see yourself going as a musician and DJ?

Just trying to have fun and do more production so I can cut down the travelling a lot.
